In industrial composting facilities (maintained at 55–65°C), breakdown occurs even faster — typically within 8–12 weeks. Home composting may take slightly longer depending on your pile's moisture and temperature levels. Unlike traditional plastic bags that persist for 400+ years, our bags vanish completely.

Yes — our bags are engineered with a reinforced double-seal bottom and a 1.0–1.57 mil cornstarch-blend wall that handles liquid-heavy scraps effectively. We recommend not filling with extremely hot liquids above 80°C (176°F) directly, as sustained heat can affect structural integrity over time. For normal kitchen use — coffee grounds, fruit peels, soups, vegetable scraps — CompostSave performs flawlessly without leaking.

An unopened box of CompostSave bags has a shelf-life of approximately 18–24 months when stored in a cool, dry environment away from direct sunlight and humidity. Once opened, we recommend using bags within 12 months for optimal performance. The natural cornstarch materials are sensitive to prolonged heat or moisture exposure, so store your box in a pantry or cabinet rather than outside or in a garage.
